Shockwave Therapy

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT), also known as Shockwave Therapy, is a multidisciplinary protocol used in orthopedics, physiotherapy, sports medicine, and urology. Shockwave is a targeted high-energy sound wave delivered to injured soft tissues to reduce pain, speed up tissue repair and cell growth. Safe and non-invasive therapy is effective to treat chronic or sub-acute musculoskeletal conditions.

The entire procedure takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete and is beneficial for people who are not yet ready to consider surgery or nonoperative treatment options. Side effects and recovery period are minimal compared to other surgical interventions.

Benefits of Shockwave Therapy
Improve Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

The prevalence of Erectile Dysfunction increases with age. It's estimated that mild or moderate ED affects 10 percent more men each decade of life. While the causes for Erectile Dysfunction are numerous, Shockwave Therapy can interact with targeted deep tissue and cause mechanical stress and microtrauma. This stress can induce a series of biological reactions that stimulate the release of factors that help form new blood vessels and the subsequent improvement of blood supply, which can rehabilitate erectile tissue without any adverse or unwanted effects.

Reduce Chronic pain

ESWT can relieve pain and restore mobility. The therapy targets injured tissue with calibrated shockwaves which helps in generating positive mediators of inflammation. Such released molecules stimulate the body's natural healing response, popularly known as proinflammatory cytokine response. Also, an increase in circulation and metabolism, the liberation of growth factors, reduction of pain mediating substances are recognized at the site of the injured spot. Office Syndrome, Tennis Elbow, Heel Spur, Chronic Tendinopathy, and Hip pain can all be treated using Shockwave Therapy.

Stimulate collagen production

The production of a sufficient amount of collagen is necessary for the repair process of the damaged soft tissues. Shockwave therapy accelerates procollagen synthesis, forcing the newly created collagen fibers into a longitudinal structure, making the newly formed tendon fibers denser, firmer, and resilient.
